Congratulations to Mark Staley, May 2025 graduate and first year medical student at UNMC.
Mark served as a research assistant in the department of gerontology for two years. During his time with us, Mark helped to expand the national gerontology database https://www.unomaha.edu/college-of-public-affairs-and-community-service/gerontology/engagement/gerontology-programs.php , discussed findings of the database since its inception at the Gerontological Society of American annual meeting in Seattle, participated in listening sessions with older volunteers and senior living community members, and helped to capture the stories of older adults residing in an independent living community in Lincoln.
Mark graduated as a Chancellor’s Scholar having achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biological sciences major. He also completed the requirements for the certificate in gerontology.
We are so grateful to have worked with Mark as a research assistant on the UNL campus. We know Mark will do great things as a physician and believe his knowledge of aging will be of great benefit to his ongoing education.
Special thanks to Terry and Judy Haney for their tremendous generosity in supporting Mark these past two years and their support of all our research assistants.
